Had there been no time, I could have taken a leisurely trot and been more than fine.Enjoy this bonus episode drawn from the Idle Thumbs Patreon Ruination Online! Each month, we do a livestream where all topics have been posed by high-tier backers of our Patreon campaign: /IdleThumbs.ĭue to popular demand, we're releasing the audio of that stream to the main podcast feed for easier listening.Īs usual, we'll be back with a regular episode of Idle Thumbs soon!ĭiscussed: Our purchasing habits of boxed versus digital games, having a physical library of things you love or worked on, dedicating the Earth's finite resources to preserving your garbage, the allure of designing a board game, modern board games taking from video games, how do you explain Important If True, it's impossible, the "wits" path of Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, a machine to erase the memories that make you cringe, an infinite cringe spiral, YTMND, snoopkirby2, headshots, making an extinct creature real, making Jar Jar Binks real, making an ideal new social network, committing to an arduous task even after you realize it is insane, is sci-fi or fantasy better, petty crimes, stupid crimes, crime, the worst food to put ketchup on, the overlap between Important If True and Idle Thumbs listeners over time, Studio Ghibli, things we love about San Francisco, what is the Tech Corner? I made it back with 12 seconds and less than a quarter of supplies. Along with the interval spawning enemies that try and stop you.who end up shooting the wagon. the one from the mission where you rescue Josiah from bounty hunters), the wagon will hit bumps and you lose supplies. Killing the guards was easy enough, but if you went into a gallop with the wagon, and did not follow a path (which is basically the entirety of to a road from the building the wagon is outside of. I would say the worst I ever got was going to the Braithwate grounds to steal a wagon containing a treating chemical, and any damage it took (literally any) it would decrease the supply amount. If the train is moving (not at a nearby station) you might as well just hunt for the duration to resupply materials. Very often it's too far to even get to in time, let alone accomplish all of that, since the timer starts before you leave your camp. If you're a newer player without the best horse, saddle, and stirrups it's virtually impossible unless the train's stopped very close to your camp. Outside of these two things - timers mean very little.Īnother of the terrible missions for solo play is the resupply mission where you have to ride to the train, kill all of the NPCs, steal the bag of goods, kill more NPCs, then ride back to your camp. I've been the target of two and neither player had a chance (low level, I had explosive rounds, and retreated to just beyond a choke point. I've been on a few and was able to get my target once (pretty sure they were AFK). They are really meant for one posse to hunt another. So long as you don't mess around and aren't attacked by other players, you should be able to make it back to your camp no problem.Īs for "The Boy" and his Player Assassignation missions - great in concept, poor in execution. As soon as you drop that carcass, you'll get about another 2 minutes or so to get the supplies back to camp. You might have 10 minutes to get a carcass and take it to that trader, and you can take 9 minutes and 59 seconds doing it. In the hunting missions, the latter is the case. On top of that, many of the missions the timer either doesn't start until you're near or in the target area OR the timer gets extended at certain points (allowing for return time). They do generally give you more than enough time (unless you majorly screw up along the way). The timers in general are just not that vital in any missions, even solo. From my experience I still have a couple of minutes left in most missions, even when I play solo and take my time. Outside of that I don't see that you have not enough time, even if you play solo. So in both cases I believe it is not the timer, but the mission design in the first case and the technical problems in the second case. It has more to do with a bug than with the timer itself. You can also just go in defensive mode via online options at the player menu, this ensures you will never get this mission again.Īs far as the hunting missions from Cripps are concerned: These are the worst too, because sometimes no animals spawn. Don't accept them, because the rewards aren't worth the efforts and other players get locked in the mission. The player assassination missions are the worst.
